“Within you, there is a stillness and a sanctuary to which you can retreat at any time and be yourself” – Hermann Hesse
For me, this time of year brings up the desire to create space in my life for deeper reflection. The days are shorter, it’s a bit darker and nature is sleepy. This quieter time allows for true introspection where we can reflect on the past year’s events and the changes we would like to create moving forward. It also returns me to the feeling of PEACE. Not just a theme to ponder once a year, but the inquiry of how and what I can do to create more peace in my life and how I may bring a bit more peace into someone else’s life.
At times creating and being at peace may feel like a daunting task, especially given the busy-ness of our lives and the nature of division in the world. I know for me, when I reflect on peace, my heart softens and my mind becomes less agitated. I can reach out to the world from a calmer place. But this takes effort and most importantly, setting a clear intention so it can become part of our daily lives. Once that occurs, we no longer need to be reminded of it once a year or on a special holiday. I believe most people would like to live in a peaceful world and it starts with each of us, and each and every day.
Take the time during this holiday to reflect on peace and what it means to you. How can you cultivate that inner peace? What does that look like for you and how can peace manifest in your relationships, environment and ultimately the world.
I wish you and everyone in your pod much peace for this holiday season and the hope for Peace on Earth for this year and the years to come.
In peace,
Chris
