I first met Karie when she came to one of my Yoga classes having neck “issues” and thought Yoga might help. That was about 25 years ago. Shortly after that she joined my 2003-2004 Teacher Training. She was an eager student and I could tell that she was going to be a wonderful teacher. It is hard to imagine that she has been with SoundYoga since then.
Karie is the artistic one behind our newsletters, finding just the right picture and colors to capture the theme. She has also been our webmaster, working her magic behind the scenes. If that was not enough, she was my assistant, answering the phones and sending out brochures and flyers for classes. I kept her busy, especially during the days of paper files and snail mail.
But all good things must come to an end. Her son Jonah is now 8 years old and she wants to spend more time with him as his outside activities have increased. I can see she is missing out on a lot of kid fun. She has taught Sundays since the beginning and has missed many family weekends.
While I am sad to see her retire and move on, I will always remember how much she has added to our SoundYoga sanga. She has such a calming presence that helped me to stay grounded when so much was happening at the studio. She gave so much of herself to her students on their yoga path.
I am so happy that she will now be able to spend more time with her family. If you are one of her students I feel your loss but at the same time let’s be joyful!
Happy summer everyone!
Namaste,
Chris
