“I began my personal Yoga journey in 1989 with Gary and Mirka Kraftsow as my teachers. As an asthmatic I learned to acknowledge my present conditions and to adapt my practice to help me to grow physically healthier and mentally stronger and to feel comfortable with who I was. I began teaching this therapeutic approach to Yoga in 1992 and was Asana Certified in 1996. I became a Certified Yoga Therapist in 2002 and am Certified Teacher Trainer in the tradition of Krishnamacharya. I have been conducting Teacher Trainings since 1998. I continue to study with Sonia Nelson deepening my practice and learning more of the healing aspects of yoga.”
Julie James, M.A., LMP is a Certified Ayurvedic Practioner from Kerola Univiersity and a Licensed Massage Therapist.
“I discovered the Yoga asanas when I first went off to college. I credit my 30 minute Yoga and meditation practice with getting me through graduate school. As life got crazier, my Yoga practice became the most important thing for keeping me on balance. After many years of working in theater, it was time to see more daylight, spend more time in my garden and switch gears. I decided to deepen my practice and become a Yoga teacher. Following that, after experiencing the benefits of Ayurveda first hand, I broadened my perspective by becoming a certified Ayurvedic Practitioner. Then in order to practice Ayurvedic bodywork, I became a SOMA Neuromuscular Integration practitioner and LMP. I am now starting to study Jyotish (Vedic Astrology), a sister science of Yoga and Ayurveda. I have an intense interest in anatomy and physiology, deriving great joy in figuring out how the body works (OMG don’t get me started!). I am an intrepid learner, constant studier and a passionate teacher excited to pass on information to help people really live a happier, healthier and more informed life. (Yep, a Kapha-Pitta constitution!)”
